“Kerrie Droban’s writing talent is amazing. In The Company of Darkness is a strong tale of murder, suspense, compelling and shocking surprises and two lead characters that will live on in my thoughts for a long time to come. Cole and Siney, two tortured souls who have known violence, heartache and great loss of those they love. The sheer intrigue and suspense in this tale is mind boggling and will send chills up and down the reader’s spine even long after the story ends. I think that I will be running from spiders for the rest of my life. And truth be told, Ms. Droban couldn’t have used a better weapon to suit this story . . . Kerri Droban could definately give some of today’s suspense writers a run for their money. Even the mind of a madman was done with precision and draws a reader in. The reader waits with bated breath to uncover the villain and might even relish in the intelligence of this person who has gotten away with so much for so long. This was one heck of a story, that even though graphic with death and skeletal remains I couldn’t put this one down.”

The Road to Romance
In The Company of Darkness is a riveting work filled with heart stopping action, good dialogue and believable-at times terrifying-characters. Writer Droban has crafted a well thought out mystery thriller filled with enough red herrings to keep the reader on their toes in this nail biter. Not for the squeamish, Writer Droban has done her homework. In The Company of Darkness has enough frank description of decaying bodies and coroner’s report information to raise the hair on the back of your neck as you discover just how diabolical Droban’s murderer really is. Excellent read, looking for a sequel.

Scribesworld Reviews
Ms. Droban rivals Michael Crichton’s thrillers in In the Company of Darkness. In the suspenseful ilk of Coma she weaves a story of intrigue that has the reader gripping the end of his or her seat and sleeping with the light on.
Deputy District Attorney Sidney Michaelson is set to try her biggest case to date, one that will make or break her career. Her star witness is a little girl named Harley. Harley is, in fact, the only witness. Just as the trial is about to start someone strikes Sidney from behind, the court house goes dark and the suspect escapes. As the situation deteriorates Detective Cole Vladik finds Sidney and escorts her to safety. But all is not well. Sidney has not only lost her suspect, she eventually loses her star witness. Even more frightening, however, is that Sidney soon realizes she has become a target of the faceless killer who will stop at nothing to reach his misguided goals.
This reviewer had a bit of a time getting into the story. Indeed, the first three chapters seemed almost flat. Word to the wise – keep on reading! Akin to the true murderer in this story, Ms. Droban sneaks under the readers’ radar and captures their attention in a gripping story of murder, intrigue, suspense and a startling conclusion. The beginning of the story serves to lure the reader into what becomes an enthralling, can’t-put-down story.
Sidney is the consummate professional and her bottom line is winning “the case.” She does not compromise her ethics, but she relentlessly pursues her goal. The epitome of the career woman on the rise in what is still a predominantly male profession, Sidney has not committed to a romantic relationship and, indeed, has done nothing to truly put down roots. In contrast, Cole has had a deep relationship and feels he was the cause of his wife’s death. They are inextricably drawn to each other while at the same time trying to maintain a professional distance. Ms. Droban builds a luscious tension between the two as they become more and more attracted to each other. She then adds even more fascination to the story with the sinister pharmaceutical company director. This reviewer felt her jaw drop as Sidney and Cole began to uncover the disturbing and creepy underlying research in the company’s lab.
If readers are looking for a riveting and absorbing story that leaves them out of breath and their hearts racing, In the Company of Darkness is for them. This is one of those books that just cannot be put down and is a “must read.”
